Inspired by the early jazz and grass roots scenes of the 1920’s devils music is a synonym for what they used to call jazz in the early days and an idiom for what is perpetually referred to as the world we live in. These two themes are present in each track and are pieced together using jazz and soul riffs. The title track “devils music” sets the period up with some complex word play only to break with a reference to the legendary Lou Armstrong. Flowing into “evil men do” this is a tune for those who want to dig deep down into their own mental state, fused with some heavy undertones that describe the skulduggery that can ensue from not keeping ones house in order. This is followed up with a soft spoken word take on attaining ones goals through inhaling good energy, enabling one to speak with knowledge and wisdom in the concluding song “don’t waste your last breath”.
A collection of early ramblings by dadaSoul. From folk to rock, pop, hip hop and soul the debut E.P really shows the humble beginnings of versatile song writing and musical styles. Each track has it’s own theme and explores it’s own musical genre.
